March on Washington

Let me start by saying that I am not for violence, but I am for civil disobedience. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the march on Washington, organized by Reverend Al Sharpton, had no ounce of the latter in it. As a result of this, I don't believe that enough pressure was exerted. I had honestly believed that this march would have been the final push after months of protests nationwide. However, after only marching for roughly one hour, and listening to speeches for two to three hours, it did not feel like our means were effective enough for our ends.
Nevertheless, I am thankful for the opportunity I had to be surrounded by hundreds of people who refuse to just sit and be complacent in a system that was built to oppress, not protect, people of colour. Police brutality is never okay especially when it mostly targets one racial group.

Here are some pictures from the protest:

Mesilla in Pictures

So, I miss the sun. Today was one of those days where you realize that autumn/fall isn't real, and winter just dominates the year. As the years have gone by, my dislike for winter has intensified. Snow is nice, but not when it's on the ground for weeks. Anyway, I'm rambling. This post is so late. The dreary weather made me think of summer, then I remembered I never posted this piece. Mesilla, New Mexico. This place is beautiful. Lots of colour, character and good vibes. I will let the pictures speak for themselves (with the help of my captions of course). I can't wait to travel again, it's a breath of life.
A window...hooray. (Excuse my sarcasm...it's that kind of day)
I just thought this looked very Western.
El Patio...what does that mean in English?
What makes you squint? The sun!
There was a chilli thing going on in Mesilla.
I think the most creative people are the ones who can make things like this.
The colours!
Gorgeous store.
My first time seeing a cactus!
If all stores looked like this I would shop more!

More chillis!
La Mariposa

Posing, but not posing?

Bear Mountain Bridge

One thing I have always said I admire about the States is the infrastructure, but more specifically the bridges. New York is filled with bridges. From the Brooklyn Bridge to the George Washington Bridge to the Bear Mountain Bridge, I'm left in awe by all of them. Does anyone else stare at the bridges in New York and just wonder about the mind that designed them? Anyway, it was a day well spent with my mum and brother!

My mum is definitely the belle of the bridge.
He's a pretty cool loser.

Las Cruces, New Mexico - A Taste of Southwest America

Bonjour! So, I left the East Coast for the first time this summer and headed to New Mexico. I had such an amazing time over there, and I was actually quite sad to leave. I was visiting my awesome friend Sharon who goes to school there. It's pretty different from New York, but still has its own appeals. Life there seems to be more slow paced and laid back (which is how I'm feeling these days). I'm not one for too many words so I'll try and speak about my experiences through the pictures I took.

How often does one see a white spider? Definitely a first for me!
Trying to capture a shot of the spider, but instead I captured Sharon capturing the Spider.
According to one person from Tumblr I look like I'm eating the sun in this picture.
Jane, Karin and I.
Apparently these days a lamp post is the perfect place for a bird's nest.

Wings and quesadillas at The Game.
Sippin' on my horchata bubble tea.
Can you tell? I've been feeling the '90s.
I've clearly also been feeling cars.

Ended my trip with some Turkish coffee at the International Delights Cafe.
Lesson time: Never drink more than one cup of urkish coffee. There's a reason why they use tiny cups.
